Alfa Romeo's British Medal Heros
British athletes Jessica Ennis, Christine Ohuruogu, Phillips Idowu, Lisa Dobriskey and Jenny Meadows were today handed the keys to new Alfa Romeo cars, as a reward for their medal-winning heroics at the IAAF World Championships in Berlin. They’re calling it the Sportiest Compact Car in the World. With just a flick of the D.N.A. selector near the gear stick, the entire dynamics of the car change. The MiTo is unmistakably an Alfa – concentrated into a taut and eager package, delivering a driving experience in the true Alfa sports tradition.
And great sports traditions continued in August as the Great Britain and Northern Ireland team enjoyed their most successful World Championships for 10 years, gaining a total of six medals comprising of two gold, two silver and two bronze.
Jenny Meadows poses next to the front grill of the MiTo.
Jenny took the bronze medal in the 800m World Championship 2009 finals, and is the third fastest British woman over 800m behind Kelly Holmes and Kirsty Wade.
Lisa Dobriskey poses alongside the MiTo.
Lisa finished 4th in the final of the 1500m in the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, and second in the 1500m at the 2009 World Championships in Berlin. Lisa's personal best in the 1500m, ranks her second on the British all-time list, behind Kelly Holmes.
Christine Ohuruogu MBE lines up alongside the MiTo!
Christine is the current Commonwealth and Olympic Championin the 400 metres. Her victory in the Beijing Games was the 50th gold medal for Great Britain in Athletics at the Olympics.
Phillips Idowu is the current triple jump World Champion and World Indoor champion, representing Great Britain and Northern Ireland, as well as reigning Commonwealth Games champion representing England. He also won the silver medal representing Team GB at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Jessica is the current world heptathlon champion. She won the high jump and 100 metre hurdles at the National Championships in July 2009, and became World Champion for Heptathlon in August 2009.
Upon receiving the keys to her new Alfa Romeo, Jessica Ennis commented: "Winning the heptathlon in Berlin and becoming World Champion was a dream come true, I still can’t quite believe it. For all the medallists to then win the prize of an Alfa Romeo is brilliant."
